by BioSTL
Dr. Eric Leuthardt is not just advancing neuroscience; he’s redefining it. A pioneering neurosurgeon, scientist, and entrepreneur, he turns groundbreaking research into life-changing solutions for patients, launches companies that drive economic growth, and rallies a city to imagine what’s possible when science is guided by purpose. From the operating room to the boardroom, his work in St. Louis proves that innovation matters most when it changes lives.
Born in Boston, Eric spent part of his childhood in Germany before settling in Cincinnati. His journey toward becoming a leader in neurotechnology began with an unexpected twist. As a high school student prone to trouble, his mother signed him up to work in a surgical research lab. That decision proved life-changing. Under the mentorship of neurosurgeon Keith Crutcher, whose approach blended science, theology, and philosophy, Eric discovered both a passion for surgery and a fascination with the deeper meaning of scientific work.
