Carrie Scherr
Hospitality and Operations Lead - Filament
Carrie runs Hospitality and Operations at Filament. They are the vendor whisperer and space choreographer who makes “wow, that was smooth” the default. She hones tools and SOPs, crafts room flow, and solves the dozen problems you never see.
Their call to sustainability flows from a profound respect for nature—an old, patient love that gathers light, mends what’s broken, and leaves more than it takes. Beyond the Green Team, Carrie does outreach with Great Rivers Greenway, helping people find the trails that lead to stewardship
After hours, they are DIY-renovating a 108-year-old home with more charm than right angles and waxing poetic about food. From growing it to cooking it, but most importantly: savoring it like a love letter you can eat.

Bake McBride
Assistant Manager
After an early career as a collegiate and semi-pro baseball player, Bake McBride took himself and his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology on another path. A personal trainer since 1995, he’s now an assistant manager at MOVE by BJC where, in his words, he “takes care of bodies.”
The 18,000-square-foot fitness center in the midst of the Cortex Innovation District serves the cardiovascular, strength and conditioning needs of 2,000 members. In his role, McBride oversees the center’s group fitness department and its community engagement programs.
And the center’s goal, McBride said, is nothing short of perfection. “Innovation plays a big role. We take history. We take education. We put it all together to develop workout plans, life goals, things like that,” said McBride, whose primary degree from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville includes exercise and wellness, along with a minor in health education. “We really dig deeper than a normal fitness facility to create that special human being, that perfect, healthy human.”

Hi, I'm Deanna. I have three cats, three mice, an unknown amount of shrimp, and a little dog named copper. I love all things living and want to do my best to protect the life on this planet. There is so much here worth looking out for, and it's never too late or early to start. I love coming up with creative solutions to tackle problems and make things more efficient. I joined the Green Team because I know that I can make the differences that need to be made only with the help of other likeminded individuals. I love to learn about new things that they are doing that I didn't know about, as well as bring forward new ideas that other people might not have heard about yet. In a world that can feel scary and overwhelming sometimes, it's nice to just focus on your community and work on tasks one at a time with others who can help.

As a sustainability project manager, I work on creating education and awareness on everything from recycling office electronics to native landscaping, sustainable site management and lowering the emissions our buildings are emitting. My passions are in native landscaping, and I've been enjoying transforming by back lawn into a native pollinator prairie through the MSD Project Clear grant for residents. I'm a big fan of alternative transportation and am lucky to be able to ride METRO or bike into work through Forest Park a few times a week. I have recently been focusing on green buildings and have joined the education committee for the Missouri Gateway Green Building Council. In my free time I like to garden, cook, read, bike, watch movies, support local restaurants and putz around Forest Park.
I joined the green team because I enjoy learning from the other members of the team, and I find inspiration in working with people that are passionate about our environment.
