Office furniture company CI Select wants to relocate its headquarters from Maryland Heights to Cortex where it would become the newest part of an ongoing redevelopment project called Carriage Works.
It's a move that has the St. Louis Board of Aldermen considering a bill that would reimburse CI Select for 50% of the sales tax it would generate to help cover project costs.
According to city documents, Corporate Interiors Inc., or CI Select, wants to relocate to 3942-62 Laclede Ave., where it will occupy around 19,100 square feet of the 27,474-square-foot building, including a courtyard, planning documents show. Those documents also say CI Select plans to invest $7.6 million to renovate and furnish the building, though people involved in the deal seemed uncertain of the accuracy of that figure.
CI Select is the St. Louis region's largest office furniture dealer, with $45 million in 2024 revenue and 50 employees, according to Business Journal research. It's current office is at 11840 Westline Industrial Dr. in Maryland Heights.
