About this Event

Recurring meetings are some of the most expensive habits inside an organization. They often run long, cover too much, rely on round-robin updates, and produce too few real decisions. This session helps participants rethink the meetings that keep showing up on the calendar and redesign them around purpose, participation, and better use of live time.

What Happens
Participants will:
  • Identify why recurring meetings drag, including “weather reporting,” take-your-turn updates, bloated agendas, and inherited formats no one has questioned in years

  • Separate what genuinely needs live conversation, such as debate, decision-making, alignment, and sense-making, from what could move async to a document, thread, dashboard, or short recording

  • Decide which recurring meetings should be shortened, merged, redesigned, or retired

  • Rebuild one standing meeting from scratch with a clearer purpose, tighter agenda, better roles, and a shorter clock

New Skills for Work is Filament's free monthly professional development series for people who are tired of training that doesn't stick. Each 90-minute session focuses on one practical skill — taught through collaboration, not lecture — so you leave with tools you can use the same afternoon. Attend solo or bring your team, then stay to work from Filament until 3 pm to put your new skills into practice.
